Here are our top 10 tips for getting the kitchen renovation of your dreams:

  1. Budget - Set a realistic budget and stick to it. With the cost of living crisis biting, this has become more important than ever. It will cost more money to change the layout of your kitchen so if you simply want it to look a bit less tired, consider simply investing in new worktops and handles.

  2. Plan - Think about your existing kitchen and ask yourself, what works and what doesn’t? Create a list of “must haves” and things you really want to change. Then when you speak to us you’ll already have a clear vision of what you’re looking to achieve.

  3. Worktops – An effective kitchen renovation wouldn’t be complete without stunning new worktops as they really give the added wow factor – and make the kitchen look completely new. We have some great options available at Country Kitchens including granite, quartz, solid wood and acrylic. The toughest is quartz and is one that we highly recommended. If your budget doesn’t stretch to quartz, then acrylic is probably better than wood – especially around the sink area, where wood can discolour. Take a look at our blog examining the different types of worktops so you can work out which one is right for you.

  4. Paint – Another easy way to make your kitchen look completely transformed is to get the units repainted, if they’ve been painted before. You can also think about repainting the walls and installing new floors to ensure the colour scheme all ties in.

  5. Range cooker goals – Why not consider investing in a stunning range cooker that will last the test of time? We’re stockists of French-made Lacanche range cookers and they really are the most premium cookers you can get your hands on. Take a look at the benefits of investing in a Lacance range cooker here.

  6. Sinks and appliances – As well as thinking about updating your cooker to a luxury range, it could also be worth taking a look at your existing appliances. Does your fridge and dishwasher need an update? It could be that by moving a couple of units around, we can make space for a larger American fridge, for example, to give you lots more food storage space.

  7. Timescales - The kitchen area can be the most disruptive space to renovate. We recommend you get a realistic time table for completion of the project from your builder or kitchen renovation company.

  8. Food preparation - When thinking about your kitchen remodelling, think about always placing the fridge and larder side by side, if possible, so you can gather all ingredients at the same time when preparing a meal.

  9. Knobs and handles - When the kitchen has been re-painted, we recommend that you purchase high quality knobs and handles as cheap ones can spoil a good kitchen renovation.

  10. Employ expertise - Probably the most important tip is to make sure you employ an experienced kitchen fitter. We have seen too many kitchens fitted by a carpenter or builder who doesn’t  have the correct tools for this type of work. An average kitchen fitted very well will look much better than an expensive kitchen fitted badly.
